SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability is not a goal.
It is a path.

We do not simply build roofs. We develop solutions that consider climate, animals, and people equally. For us, sustainability means taking responsibility – and getting better step by step.

A natural part of our DNA

For Norcover, sustainability is both a strategic decision and a natural response to our customers’ requirements. The agriculture and construction sectors face major challenges – from stricter legal regulations to a growing demand for buildings that protect the environment and animals. We see it as our task to provide solutions that not only meet these requirements, but also create added value for our customers and society.

Today, it is no longer enough to deliver durable products. We must also document how they contribute to a more sustainable future. That is why we are actively working to integrate sustainability into all areas – from material selection to product development.

SUSTAINABLE AMBITIONS MEET REALITY

From words to actions

We have taken the first steps to strategically invest more resources in sustainability. This means focusing on our processes, our materials, and our partners. Exciting challenges lie ahead – and we are ready to face them.

In 2024, we published our first ESG report, in which we openly discuss progress, challenges, and goals. Honesty matters to us: we do not yet know everything – but we are determined to learn and develop further.

DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION

Measurable steps forward

To create transparency and strengthen our position, we prepared our first climate account in 2024. It forms the basis for reducing our CO₂ footprint and further optimising our products.

We are also reviewing ISO 9001 certification – an international standard that ensures quality and continuous improvement. A particular focus is on LCA analyses (Life Cycle Assessment) of our roofing membranes, to document their environmental impact from production to disposal.

In addition, we are researching how our membranes reflect sunlight and how the albedo effect can help reduce temperatures in buildings and their surroundings. Our goal is not only to create a pleasant indoor climate for animals and people, but also to document how our solutions are reflected in farmers’ CO₂ balance – helping reduce the overall climate impact.

These are small but crucial steps on the path to more sustainable production.

Two goals. One clear direction.

The UN Sustainable Development Goals are ambitious – and they should be. But for a company of our size, it is about starting where we can make the greatest difference. That is why we focus on two of the 17 UN goals:

Industri, Innovations and Infrastructure

Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

We develop solutions that promote modern, sustainable infrastructure – from cattle barns that improve animal welfare to sports halls that create healthy spaces for communities.

Climate Action

Goal 13: Climate Action

We actively work to reduce our CO₂ footprint – and to develop products that help our customers do the same.
